Ports of Call
An Age of Exploration naval RPG — free, in your browser
You are given a ship, a small purse and a berth in a home port. What you do with the sixteenth century is your affair. Ports of Call is a trading and exploration role-playing game in the spirit of the 16-bit Koei sailing simulations — Uncharted Waters and its kin — rebuilt to run in a browser with nothing to install.
What you do
- Trade 46 commodities across 156 historical ports, on a market with finite stock where dumping a hold moves the price and distance is what pays.
- Sail a real world map with wind, leeway, ocean currents, seasons and weather that knows its own latitude.
- Fight ship-to-ship actions with broadsides, chain shot into the rig, raking fire, boarding actions and a beaten captain who may strike her colours.
- Command a fleet of up to eight vessels, with officers who level, crew who can desert, and wages owed at every quayside.
- Explore 88 world discoveries, put a party ashore, fish, salvage wrecks and carry letters between 597 named people who know one another.
- Rise through 20 captain's ranks earned by deeds — not by grinding a level counter.
